I'm new to this blogging thing but i will be sharing my opinions, ideas or even things i've researched from time to time.
Today i'm sort of venting on some of Marvel comics screw ups, specifically the X-men films; After tolerating the effort of Brian Singer on the 1st X-men movie followed by a slightly better X 2 also by Singer, the 3rd installment X-men 3: The Last Stand by Brett Ratner was great on the eyes but there were too many characters all over the place & who wants to see Jean Grey get possessed & killed by the Phoenix for the 100th time?!
Anyway, i've been holding my tongue on all this for quite a while now
but after recently learning that Brian Singer will be directing the X-men First class follow up i've reached my breaking point.
For some reason Matthew Vaughn has backed out of the film but he did write the script so hopefully that counts for something.
Anyway, enough about the madness of reality. I decided to try & pretend none of these movies happened.
What if i could go a completely different way with the 1st X-men film? Truth be told i would want to begin with the original 5 X-men (Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel & Iceman) but i don't know if it would be as interesting casting actors to play them so let's fast forward to a more current roster.
Something like this:
BISHOP -Idris Elba (BBC Television Show Luther / Takers / Prometheus)
STORM -Naomie Harris (28 Days Later / Miami Vice / Skyfall)
WOLVERINE- Hugh Jackman (Someone Like You / X-men Origins Wolverine / Les Miserables )
ROGUE -Kate Mara (The Shooter) or maybe Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye)
GAMBIT -Taylor Kitsch (X-men Origins Wolverine / Battleship)
CYCLOPS -James Marsden (X-men Trilogy / Death At A Funeral)
JEAN GREY -Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village / Terminator Salvation)
The Villains would include:
Magneto -Michael Fassbender (X-men First Class), Mystique -Charlize Theron (Snow White & the Huntsman), & Sabretooth -Liev Schreiber (X-men Origins Wolverine)
Riptide -Alex Gonzalez (Color of the Ocean / X-men First Class), Vertigo -Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games / The Silver Linings Playbook)
So on & so forth.

I'll soon be following this up with some interesting cast ideas for an X-force film.

Looks pretty good. I think they could do an original 5 xmen movie if they wanted to. Throw in that crazy incident where scott had to get a second team then sure i think it be tight.

Yeah I would really love to see something like that done, but sure enough they will touch the "oh so wonderful" Phoenix saga again. Now I think about it they have an anime version of X-men where it starts of with Jean blowing up due to her fear of destroying everything. I thought it was pretty cool and the show seemed really dark. You should look it up when you got the chance.
DeleteI've seen some of that version & it looked great! I do think earlier versions of Phoenix saga material was very well executed whether it was comic book or animated series, however i do believe it's time for it to fade out in the books.
DeleteThis time around Cyclops was taken by the Phoenix & he almost destroyed the world!
The rules are changing & if these creative teams don't man up & cut the crap then they will push the snowball down the hill beginning a whole new level of Phoenix redundancy.
